Arthritis FAQs
Answers to common questions about arthritis, how it differs from fibromyalgia, and conservative care options.
Can a chiropractor help with arthritis?
Chiropractic care may help some patients with arthritis manage stiffness, joint restriction, posture strain, muscle tension, and movement limitations. Chiropractic care does not cure arthritis, but it may support better motion, function, and comfort when used appropriately. Premier Chiropractic evaluates the affected joints, movement patterns, pain levels, and overall function. Your evaluation may include movement testing, orthopedic testing, and any necessary X-rays when clinically appropriate to better understand joint spacing, arthritis-related changes, and structural findings. Treatment may include gentle chiropractic care, rehabilitation, MLS laser therapy, shockwave therapy, mobility work, and home-care guidance.
Is arthritis the same as joint pain?
No. Arthritis is one possible cause of joint pain, but not all joint pain is arthritis. Joint pain can also come from injury, overuse, tendon irritation, bursitis, poor movement, muscle imbalance, or nerve-related problems. Premier Chiropractic evaluates the pattern of pain and movement limitations to help determine whether conservative care may be appropriate or whether further medical evaluation is needed.
Is fibromyalgia the same as arthritis?
No. Arthritis usually involves joint inflammation, degeneration, or autoimmune-related joint problems. Fibromyalgia is a chronic pain condition that can cause widespread pain, tenderness, fatigue, poor sleep, and sensitivity throughout the body. The two conditions can feel similar because both may cause pain and stiffness, but they are not the same. Premier Chiropractic evaluates movement, joint function, posture, and pain patterns to determine what type of conservative care may be appropriate.
