    What Is Sciatica?

Sciatica refers to pain that radiates along the path of the sciatic nerve, which runs from your lower back through your hips and buttocks and down each leg. Typically, sciatica affects only one side of your body.

    Common Symptoms

  1. **Radiating pain** from lower back to buttock and down the back of the leg
  2. **Numbness or tingling** in the leg or foot
  3. **Muscle weakness** in the affected leg
  4. **Burning or shooting pain** that worsens with prolonged sitting
  5. **Difficulty moving** the leg or foot

  6. What Causes Sciatica?

Sciatica occurs when the sciatic nerve becomes pinched or irritated. Common causes include:

    1. **Herniated disc** - The most common cause

    2. **Bone spurs** - Overgrowth on the vertebrae

    3. **Spinal stenosis** - Narrowing of the spinal canal

    4. **Piriformis syndrome** - Muscle spasm in the buttock

    5. **Pregnancy** - Pressure from the growing uterus

    Risk Factors

  7. Age (disc degeneration)
  8. Obesity (increased spinal stress)
  9. Prolonged sitting
  10. Diabetes
  11. Heavy lifting occupations

  12. Treatment Options

    Conservative Treatments

Most cases of sciatica resolve with non-surgical treatments:

  13. **Chiropractic adjustments** to relieve nerve pressure
  14. **Spinal decompression** for disc-related sciatica
  15. **Physical therapy** to strengthen supporting muscles
  16. **Ice and heat therapy** to reduce inflammation
  17. **Stretching exercises** to improve flexibility

  18. Advanced Treatments

    For persistent cases, we offer:

  19. **MLS Laser Therapy** - Reduces inflammation at the cellular level
  20. **Shockwave Therapy** - Promotes healing in chronic cases
  21. **Trigenics** - Neuromuscular treatment for lasting relief

  22. When to Seek Immediate Care

Seek emergency care if you experience:

  23. Sudden, severe pain in your lower back or leg
  24. Numbness or muscle weakness in your leg
  25. Loss of bladder or bowel control
  26. Pain following a violent injury
